In Germany a driving simulator is an approved training tool in driving schools and is used for basic manoeuvres, hazard perception and traffic situations. It does not replace the legally required special drives, but it shortens the time learners need in real traffic for the basics. The ACTORACER driving-school simulator runs a steering column with indicators, pedals and a gearshift, so learners use the same controls as in the school car.
